The Swindon Cultural Partnership was created to bring together the town’s civic, cultural, corporate and community elements through cultural development, in order to establish a confident, progressive and successful reputation for Swindon. This strategic partnership will implement some things, influence others & inspire as widely as possible.
The partnership is a company limited by guarantee with board members drawn from the different partners.
The partnership's members include: Nationwide Building Society; npower energy suppliers; The New Swindon Company, regenerating the town; Swindon Borough Council; Arts Council England, South West; the Swindon Advertiser, the town's local paper; the Institute of Contemporary Interdisciplinary Arts at the University of Bath in Swindon; and SwindonDance. The partnership has also recieved assistance from Arts and Business.
The Partnership has the patronage of: Lord and Lady Joffe; Jasper Fforde; Sir Peter Beale; and David Hempleman-Adams.
Think: Swindon
A season of thought-provoking events across Swindon in the month of April.
In 2009 Think:Swindon will centre around the Anne Frank and You exhibition, with a focus on how Anne Frank's story applies to the people of Swindon today. The team is now developing further projects and will be open to any suggestions that you may have. Current plans include:
- posters of children's poems about bullying all over town
- art exhibitions relating to equality and racism
- dance events
- Swindon Borough Council activities
- films on the big screen
- school projects and visits
- community engagement arts and crafts
- events in the literature festival
- wide-ranging press coverage.
