The New Swindon Company

Regenerating the Heart of Swindon

The New Swindon Company logoSwindon’s town centre will be undergoing significant transformation in the coming years. Seven major regeneration project areas were announced in 2004 and these are targeted at delivering:

  • £1billion investment
  • 10,000 new jobs
  • 385,000 sq m of development with potential for:
    - 3,000 new homes
    - 90,000 sq m office space
    - 100,000 sq m retail and leisure

The seven project areas are:

The Exchange

Responding to the need for better commercial facilities with provision for new offices, shops, restaurants and other leisure as well as new homes.

The Promenade

Providing a new cultural and leisure focus for the town with a new library and associated cultural facilities, new homes and the potential location for the University of Bath’s Institute of Contemporary and Interdisciplinary Arts.

The Arena

Creating a new heart for Swindon, offering potential for a major new public area with performance space and retail, leisure and commercial frontages.

The Hub

Transforming the retail centre with a broader range of shops, leisure and homes.

The Campus

Offering an office park environment in landscaped setting with the benefit of potential for sports and leisure facilities.

North Star Village

Delivering high quality urban living in a sustainable, environmentally-friendly area.

Swindon Central

Bringing the railway area to life with improved and new rail crossings and stations entrances, complemented by a mix of uses including retail, residential, leisure and offices.
