The Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Bill places a new duty on local authorities to produce a local economic assessment. The 2009 assessment for Swindon pre-empts that duty and acts as a dry run for the 2010 assessment when the duty comes into effect.
The economic assessment has been circulated amongst partners, both to inform them of its conclusions, and to seek their input on how it might be improved in anticipation of the legal requirement. The document will be used to inform the Council’s, and the SSEP’s, allocation of economic development resources, and to inform the priorities of partner organisations.
